Terms of service

Last changed on 8 November 2026

These terms apply to everyone with an account at Boekwise, the online accounting service at app.boekwise.com (“the service”). “We” means Boekwise; “you” means the business or person using the account. By signing up you agree to these terms.

1. Your account

  • You sign up with correct details and keep them up to date.
  • You keep your password secret. We recommend turning on two-factor sign-in.
  • You are responsible for what happens in your account, including by the users you invite, and for the rights you give them.
  • If you sign up on behalf of a business, you confirm that you may act for that business.

2. Plans, trial and payment

  • The plans, what they include and their prices are on boekwise.com and in the service under Subscription.
  • A paid plan starts with a free trial. If you don’t pay afterwards, you can still see your books but not change them, until you choose a plan.
  • Paid plans are paid in advance per month or per year. We send you an invoice by e-mail for every period; you pay it by card through our payment provider Stripe (which keeps the card details, we never see them) or by bank transfer to one of the accounts on the invoice. You may save a card so that invoices are charged automatically.
  • If an invoice stays unpaid after our reminders, your books become read only until it is paid; nothing is deleted.
  • Anyone may apply to become a reseller; we decide on every application and mail you our decision. An approved reseller pays us the list price minus the discount we agreed for every customer, monthly, and sets its own prices for its customers.
  • If you took your subscription through a reseller, the reseller invoices you under their own terms and pays us. We don’t invoice you, and if the reseller doesn’t pay us we warn you before your books become read only.
  • You can switch to another plan at any time. We announce a price change at least 30 days in advance; it applies from your next billing period.

3. Cancelling

You can cancel your subscription at any time. It runs until the end of the period you have already paid for; paid periods are not refunded unless the law says otherwise. We may close an account when these terms are seriously broken, or when payment stays out after a reminder.

4. Your data

  • Your books and everything you put into the service remain yours. We only use them to provide the service, as described in our privacy policy.
  • You can export your invoices, contacts and other lists at any time.
  • If you want your account and data removed after cancelling, send an e-mail to [email protected].

5. Your books remain your responsibility

Boekwise is a tool. You remain responsible for correct and complete books, for your tax returns and for keeping your records as long as the law requires. Check a VAT return before you file it: Boekwise works it out from what you booked. Reading receipts automatically can make mistakes; check the details before you book.

6. Availability

We do our best to keep the service available and make regular backups, but we can’t guarantee that it is never interrupted. We announce planned maintenance in advance where we can.

7. Liability

Our liability is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the damage. We are not liable for indirect damage, such as lost profit or penalties for an incorrect return. These limits don’t apply in case of intent or gross negligence.

8. Changes

We may change these terms. We announce a change that is to your disadvantage at least 30 days in advance, by e-mail or in the service. If you don’t agree, you can cancel before the change takes effect.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Suriname. Disputes go to the competent court in Paramaribo, unless mandatory law in your country says otherwise.

10. Contact

Send questions about these terms to [email protected].
